Sudden death of Colin Powell shocked everyone. The first Black U.S. secretary of state’s died at the age of 84 on (18th October 21), because of myeloma (cancer that forms in a type of white blood cell) that compromised his immune system. Although, he has been fully Vaccinated, but in complication with covid-19 he has to suffer.
Colin Luther Powell was born on April 5, 1937. Collin was born in New York City, his father Luther Theophilus Powell and mother Maud Arial. Their family emigrated from Jamaica to the United States. He spends his whole life breaking the barrier.
He had done his schooling and college from New York and went to the city college of New York where he earned a degree in geology; he got the opportunity to participate in ROTC (Reserved Officers Training Corps). After that, he entered Army upon Graduation, where he served in Vietnam. He also holds a degree in MBA from George Washington University and was an honorable doctor in public services.
He spent 35 years in the Vietnam Army where he raised his rank to four-star general who served as 65th United States secretary of state from 2001 to 2005. He was the first African American secretary of state and served as 16th United States national security advisor from 1987 to 1989 and the 12th chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1989 to 1993.
Powell broke from republican ranks to endorse Barack Obama in 2008. After the death of Powell, the former president told: “he understood what was best in this country. And tried to bring his own life, career, and public statement line with the ideal”.
He argued privately against the Iraq war but he regret telling to the U.N, that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction based on falls information he was given by the CIA. Later on, he resigned from his post because of the same incident.
