Hollywood actor accidentally killed rising cinematographer Halyana Hutchins 42, and also wounded the film director joe Souza by firing a prop gun on the set of his independent feature “Rust”. The sheriff confirms the statement that the “two individuals were shot on the set of Rust. Halyana Hutchins 42, and director Joel Souza 48, were shot when a prop gun firearm was discharged by Alec Baldwin 68, producer and actor”.
Authorities said that the Hutchins rushed to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Alberquerque by helicopter, where she was pronounced to death. Meanwhile, the director was taken by ambulance to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center, where the treatment still going on for his injuries.
According to her website, Ms. Hutchin was from Ukraine and grew up in a Soviet Military Base in the arctic circle. She graduated from the AFI Conservatory with MFA in Cinematography in Los Angeles.
She took a huge jump in her career, as she was one of the eight female cinematographers for the 21st Century Fox Dp Lab, and also known as one of the “Rising Stars of the cinematography of 2019”
The officer said, no one was arrested in the incident, and no charges have been filed against anyone. Police and detectives are still investigating the incident and interviewing the witness.
According to the movie database. The movie is about a 13-year old boy who takes care of himself and his younger brother after the death of their parents in 1880, in Kansa. The boy was sentenced to death for the accidental murder of a local rancher and ran away with his long-estranged grandfather (Role played by Baldwin).
